Furnace Creek Resort in Death Valley National Park Announces Bed & Breakfast Package at Ranch at Furnace Creek This Summer

DEATH VALLEY NATIONAL PARK, Calif., June 6, 2014 – The family-friendly Ranch at Furnace Creek at Furnace Creek Resort is offering a summer getaway.
Available through Sept. 15, 2014, the Bed & Breakfast Package features overnight accommodations, breakfast buffet, use of sports courts and spring-fed swimming pool, wireless internet and complementary local and 800 number calls. Rates start at $163 per night for double occupancy, not including taxes and the resort fee.

The 224-room Ranch at Furnace Creek is popular for its central location and easy access from Las Vegas. The Ranch is open year-round and features a natural spring-fed swimming pool, 18-hole Furnace Creek Golf Course, the world’s lowest at 214 feet below sea level; RV park and Fiddlers Campground; two restaurants; a saloon; general store; and a service station. The area surrounding the pool includes an expansive shaded lawn, tennis courts, a multi-use sport court, putting green, bocce court and shuffleboard court. In addition, there is a 3,000-foot airstrip adjacent to the property and seasonal horse stables.
Also at the Ranch is the complimentary Borax Museum, which showcases the history of the Furnace Creek Resort and key figures involved in the development of Death Valley. The museum offers a pictorial history and showcases artifacts from the past, such as antique stagecoaches, mining tools and a railroad steam locomotive in the museum courtyard. The museum is open to the public seven days a week.
The Furnace Creek Visitor Center is a short walk from the Ranch. Operated by the National Park Service, the recently refurbished center is open year-round. A 20-minute film is shown throughout the day and provides a great overview of the history, geology and more of Death Valley National Park. NPS rangers present a wide variety of interpretive programs as well.
The Ranch is well-located for sightseeing too. To the south of the resort are Badwater Basin at 282 feet below sea level, Artist’s Drive where several scenes from the first Star Wars movie were shot and a variety of fascinating geologic formations. To the north are sand dunes, wagon wheel trails, Ubehebe Crater and Scotty’s Castle, the site of a non-existent gold mine located under the bed of a lovable con artist. The park is also known for its colorful sunsets and starry nights, and it has been recognized by the International Dark-Sky Association.

The Furnace Creek Resort has been welcoming guests since the 1930s. The historic AAA Four Diamond Inn at Furnace Creek is open from mid-October through mid-May.
